So after a quick pint in the weatherspoons Bedworth- where unemployed people talk about how they always voted BNP- and another quick pint in the Rocket near Coventry train station we are on our way. A whole year has gone by since I saw the likes of ‘this is Seb Clark’ ‘Blackbud’ and the quiet frankly awesome ‘fratellis’ at last year’s Godiva festival but it still only seams a month ago to me.

I can remember it clearly. There I am pressed against the rail holding my camera and taking pictures while behind the kids of Coventry are doing what the kids of Coventry do best, there going wild. Jumping, screaming, punching the air, crowd surfing over the rails and getting dragged out the tent by the scruff of there neck by over zealous bouncers. I remember the lead singer of the fratellis looking out onto the mayhem and saying ‘god bless fratellis fans’. It was about then that I noticed I was still alone, my brother who had just popped out to get himself beer and me water before the band started had not come back yet, if he didn’t hurry up he was going to miss it. the fratellis played a blinding set and with each song they played the crowd erupted, while I stood at the front nodding my head softly while worrying about my camera.

They were just ending there set as a girl tapped me on my shoulder. I turned around to see my brother standing behind her with a face like a slapped arse. “here’s your fucking water” he said, before blaming me for him missing the gig, I shouldn’t have made him go to two different places to get water and beer. I pointed out that I didn’t make him go anywhere, he told me that he was going for beer and asked me if I wanted anything. ‘it wouldn’t have happened if I had just stayed on the beer’. I thought for a moment. I could tell him that he didn’t need to drink. If he was slightly sober like me (I.E just nicely drunk/tipsy) then he would have been back in time for the fratellis and he would be able to remember them. No that would be silly, instead I said (knowing how much he hated the JCB song) “well at least your back in time for Nizlopi”.

Needless to say that I’m looking forward to this years festival. With it being the 10th year of the festival and there being so many good bands from Coventry playing I’m sure its going to be a good one.

5-5-2007 - THE FIRST REVIEW
Coming soon.
The other day I asked Susan Legault if she would like to be the first person to review Sugared Ink. She was delighted and has jumped at the chance. She is writing it as we speak! So who is Susan? Susan was the first person to buy my book. As such I thought it would be a neat idea for her to have the first word on it. So will she like it? Watch this space to find out
